Comprehensive Mental Health Services

We provide compassionate and highly-skilled mental health services for a broad range of issues, including complex trauma and developmental trauma. Our team of clinicians understands that the therapeutic relationship must be compassionate, trustworthy, and genuine. We work with individuals experiencing various mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, grief, low self-esteem, relational issues, trauma, life transitions, and more.

Using a HAES-informed approach, we assist clients through the therapeutic process, helping them to identify their strengths and areas for improvement. We believe that individual therapy is a collaborative journey and essential for fostering self-acceptance and change. In addition, we support our clients in understanding the sources of their concerns while promoting inner child healing and helping them recognize their innate competency and resilience.

Developmental Trauma

We specialize in working with adult survivors of developmental trauma, childhood abuse, neglect, and dysfunctional family systems. We understand how early experiences of emotional or physical harm can shape how you think, feel, and relate to the world, affecting your nervous system, sense of safety, physical health, and relationships. These early wounds often manifest in adulthood as anxiety, difficulty trusting others, feeling numb or disconnected, or struggling with boundaries and self-worth. This is particularly true for those who have experienced complex trauma.

Society often upholds narratives that protect family systems at all costs—expecting loyalty, silence, or forgiveness even when harm has occurred. These messages can enable abuse to continue unnoticed or unchallenged, leaving survivors to carry the weight of pain that is minimized or dismissed.

In our individual therapy sessions, we strive to offer a space where you feel truly safe—where your experiences are honored and your pain is never dismissed. There’s no need to justify or explain your feelings; we believe you. With a HAES-informed approach, our role is to support you in reconnecting with yourself through inner child healing, strengthening trust in your emotions, and starting the healing process within a relationship built on empathy, authenticity, and respect.

Inner Child Healing

Inner child work embodies the concept that "we are who we've been at every age." As we transition into adulthood, our complex trauma and developmental trauma don't simply fade away; those younger parts of us remain very much alive. When we experience emotional triggers and struggle to comprehend their origins, it’s often a younger aspect of ourselves that is demanding recognition. In adulthood, we might respond by ignoring these calls for help or employing responses rooted in childhood as a means of coping. Such reactions can be trauma responses that continue to manifest in our adult lives. Our ways of dealing with wounds reflect the strategies we learned early on, often to ensure our safety.

This framework emphasizes the importance of safe relationships, emotional and physical safety, and consent. It advocates for respecting all parts of oneself while developing a competent and compassionate inner parent and learning to set healthy boundaries. Through this HAES-informed approach, individuals engage in inner child healing, allowing them to grieve the childhood they needed but perhaps never received. This process ultimately opens the door to greater joy, connection, and personal growth as one uncovers and celebrates their authentic self through individual therapy.

Complex Trauma (C-PTSD)

We understand and acknowledge the complexities of complex trauma, particularly developmental trauma arising from ongoing experiences of abuse and domestic violence. While PTSD and c-PTSD share similarities as both result from deeply traumatic events leading to flashbacks, nightmares, and emotional disturbances, the key distinction lies in the frequency of the trauma. PTSD typically stems from a single, traumatic event, whereas c-PTSD arises from prolonged trauma that can persist for months or even years.

Through individual therapy, we help you foster feelings of safety and discover freedom by gently challenging maladaptive beliefs, establishing boundaries, embracing your truth, and engaging in inner child healing to integrate the fragmented parts of yourself into a cohesive and adaptive whole. Our HAES-informed approach supports your journey towards healing and wholeness.

HAES-Informed Approach

Clients often come to us with low self-esteem and self-worth issues rooted in weight and body size, which can be linked to experiences of complex trauma and developmental trauma. Many providers have learned to associate higher-weight bodies with being 'unhealthy' and thinner bodies with being 'healthy.' These misconceptions lead to the belief that weight and size are simply the results of our choices, implying that individuals in larger bodies reflect poor habits. This notion is not only inaccurate, as body size is influenced by a range of complex genetic, environmental, behavioral, and socio-economic factors, but also perpetuates harmful stereotypes and can result in inadequate healthcare quality.

Our approach to your treatment is consciously rooted in the HAES-informed approach, a framework that separates health from weight, respects individual autonomy, and acknowledges that health is subjective. This method promotes dignity and respect for all bodies, while also advocating for justice and inclusion across various spectrums of weight, age, gender, sexuality, race, and ability. Additionally, we emphasize the importance of inner child healing through individual therapy, recognizing how past experiences shape our present perceptions of self-worth and body image.
